- The Problem: Up to 30% of traditionally manufactured clothing goes unsold directly to landfills or incinerators
- The POD Fix: Zero speculative manufacturing - garments are produced only when an order is placed
- Inks Used: Oeko-Tex certified, water-based non-toxic inks across all tiers
The traditional fashion industry has a structural overproduction problem. Globally, approximately 92 million tons of textile waste are generated every year - much of it coming from unsold inventory manufactured speculatively months in advance. Print-on-demand directly addresses this waste by changing how clothing is made.
Speculative vs. On-Demand Production
By producing garments only after a customer places an order, print-on-demand eliminates warehouse overstock and unpurchased deadstock entirely.
Sustainable Foundations Across Our Tiers
Sustainability requires clean materials. Here is how our suppliers align with this standard:
| Tier | Supplier | Sustainability Credentials |
|---|---|---|
| Premium | Stanley/Stella | GOTS-Certified Organic Cotton, Fair Wear Foundation Audited, OEKO-TEX 100 |
| Signature | Cotton Heritage | Domestic US Production, WRAP Certified Ethical Labor |
| Essential | Gildan | 39% Renewable Energy, Closed-Loop Wastewater Recycling |
Honest Sustainability: What POD Can & Cannot Claim
We believe in absolute transparency.
What POD can truthfully claim: Zero speculative inventory, zero destroyed surplus, water-based non-toxic inks, and localized fulfillment close to the recipient.
What POD cannot claim: POD is not zero-impact. Garments still require agricultural water, energy to print, PET transfer film (for DTF), and individual shipping logistics.
By eliminating speculative overproduction, print-on-demand takes a meaningful step toward a cleaner, more accountable apparel industry.
